L3 gathered all the women in leadership roles to have their first women's networking conference. This was a way to integrate the many segments that comprise the company, and a main goal was to teach all the women how to golf.
Develop the event's own brand that is empowering, simple, professional, and related to their existing brand.
The leadership in L3 are changing the culture of the company in major ways. They are hoping to develop better integration and resource sharing systems across their many independent segments, which requires a lot of cross-department collaboration. In this conference, women in leadership roles were given the chance to develop connections with their counterparts across the organization. There were seminars about career development, diversity, collaboration, leadership skills, with the main event being golf lessons.
A main theme of the event was that women are often extremely hard-working, but miss out on opportunities because of their distaste towards networking. The conference was really about changing minds about networking by seeing it as fun and empowering. By learning to play golf, these women would develop a new networking skill in their arsenal. The design started with a save the date, where I experimented with a few different themes.
The leaders of L3 chose the simplest design because they thought it could best be developed into a logo. I experimented with many colors and shapes, which makes for quite a busy illustration document!
The final logo was selected by L3 and printed on many items distributed at the conference. The client said it perfectly embodied the theme of the conference - empowering women to have fun in their careers. Networking should be fun!
